@Steve Rice: yeah, I don't often see the little ones also moorhens are a bit like coots but with red faces so that adds to the mystery do their babies have white heads?!

@Darkelf Photography: thanks ! it is very dry here and that is some gunk from the shallows of the pond makes for an interesting foreground and an obstacle course for the little ones
