iron work in Charleston

Posted by
Jason Kravitz (Brussels, Belgium) on 20 October 2014 in Abstract & Conceptual.

A man named "Dr. O" joined us on our Charleston photo walk. He is an anthropologist and teaches at the college in town.

His Grandfather is Philip Simmons who is a well known artisan and blacksmith who created much of the unique and intricate ornamental iron work seen around the city of Charleston.

This photo was taken at a church cemetery gate - thanks to Todd for spotting these excellent shadows and pointing them out to me and the photography students.
