The Work Begins

These glass houses were traditionally used to harvest grapes in this area.

They are expensive to maintain and heat and for tax purposes, many of the farmers have taken down the ones no longer in use.

My neighbor's glass houses were 80 some years old. Early last year, he decided to take them down. Being a hard worker, even into his 70's , he and his wife took them down themselves glass pane by glass pane. Not easy work for the young and strong and a testament of his character.

He is a great inspiration as I'm thinking about the work ahead this year.
