Arches of the Kumasi Market

Posted by
Jason Kravitz (Brussels, Belgium) on 8 January 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture.

A part of the Kumasi market goes through the old train station and tracks which are no longer in service. It's a bit strange standing on dusty tracks buying spices and carrots.

Pretty disconcerting sort of view, strange decision to put a market there.

I like this pic...it sort of reminds me of a still from an old-print movie about Darkest Africa. The mess just adds to it. Well done, jason! some stars. :OD

I ponder this and think, gee just about anywhere else would seem a better place for a market, but this is certainly memorable and one would have to watch where one steps. Strange and lively place certainly and a rare image I'm sure.

Very interesting composition: old rails, modern bridge and a market out of place !!!
Nice capture

The mix of so many things like the rail track,an elevated bridge,a rural market scene, way of life. Its a mixed bag of things in place.Intelligent photo i would say.
