Defensive Posture

For those who are unsure how to read body language (for humans, animals or anything in between), here is a good first lesson. What do you think this cat is saying ?

We were walking around the lovely town of Dinant with our dog. He likes to stick his nose into windows and doorways at street level - so he was sure surprised when he poked his head in a window and this cat came screaming out basically hopping on its back legs while its claws pounded on his face in a fury. We pulled them apart without any noticeable damage but he was ready to get in there and fight some more.

We sat nicely for a minute or two and had a face off before walking in the other direction, leaving the cat back to its previous business.

He sure got the cat's backup!
Razzing a cat is definitely not a good move. My Mum's dog tried a rush on my cat once. He walked away with a claw embedded in his nose!

He's saying, "Want a piece of me. Well, let's fight!".
