Hatshepsut Temple Guardian

Posted by
Jason Kravitz (Brussels, Belgium) on 6 May 2008 in People & Portrait.

This guy was really nice and funny. Some of the temple guardians are not as friendly and hustle tourists for tips but he was pure bright energy.

There's a great mood to this portrait, and the blue juxtaposes with the columns very effectively.

Wonderful light which makes the colors really work for me. I like how you connected with your subject, so often photographers just snap when people are not looking and miss out. Well done!

I like the fact that you made contact with him - not just snapping on 'the sly'. So often, people are accommodating; we humans all want to be validated in one way or another.
