Excellent pan!

Nice! I love it! Question, how do you capture this picture when the object is in movement? I guess it helps to have a nicer camera? Every time I try to take pictures of moving (a bit fast) objects they look blurry... still a lot to learn :)
(email me if you get a chance :) )

@Lia: Thanks Lia - I sent you an email with more info but basically it is a technique called panning where you try to follow the subject at the same speed they are moving while taking a shot with a slower shutter speed.

The motion in the shot suits it.

Great composition and blur. Tripod or hand held?

30 Nov 2006 2:20pm

@Ryan: Thanks all!
Ryan this was handheld. I have IS on my lens so it helps keep the sharpness while panning.

Fantastic blurring...did you saturate the colours a little...those purples and blues are fantastic. I like the rushing feeling of this picture.

30 Nov 2006 3:31pm

@Colour blind: I did tweak the colors in a combination of Lightroom and messing with each channel in Levels in CS2... I didn't set out to bring out the purple but I liked the way it popped out too!

Cool horse. Nice sense of motion. Interesting composition in terms of cutting the carriage in half.
