Total Lunar Eclipse

Posted by
Jason Kravitz (Brussels, Belgium) on 28 October 2004 in Plant & Nature.

What a strange day - many technical problems at work and a flat tire on my way home but I was able to get back in time to eat dinner and set up the tripod for the lunar eclipse. We had nearly perfect clear skies except about 20 minutes before totality - then the clouds moved off just in time for me to catch the last photo in the series, full coverage with a red tinge.

All shot with 400mm lens - the first four were somewhere around ISO 200, f/8, 1/250s - the last one was ISO 1600, f/5.6, .8s

These are the original size in the frame from the camera, no post processing except combining them together in Photoshop.

Wooh! Thats great! Did you get rid of the stars or they weren't there?
Anyways, its a really clean capture of the eclipse.

Very, very nice! Glad to hear things worked out between you and the clouds. :)

I would love to see the full resolution version of this image (or any one of the images). Would it be possible to post another one this week with a tight crop of the corner of the moon at full resolution?

I'll buy an enlargement of this. Post one in your cube at work and the orders will start coming in. Fine technical job.

Very nicely done! Here is the astronomer's version...too bad the clouds moved in and prevented us from getting the full in/out process.
