I find it amazing how fast digital has taken over. It has completely conquered traditional film in less than 5 years, becoming the standard choice for most buyers when purchasing a new camera.

Agreed Aaron, although Jason can tell you Adon Mallory still wants to buy a new film camera! There are holdouts...I like the solitary tree on the "up-slant" visual as you follow the sidewalk. Of course, the old building with chipping paint adds to the story as Steve would say.

You guys would be hating if I say this :
"Please coin a new term to denote the output of a digital camera---dont use the term 'photography'". Digital picture capturing is just another form of imagery and not photography.

Having said that...I am gathering money to buy a nice DSLR :-) but you cannot ever get the effects of B/W films or Slide films from digital cameras. I know Steve will agree with me.

First, another of those Aminus3 coincidences. Lee's photo (posted by me until he returns from vacation) of Nikon's digital exhibit at a NYC photo show. We have the old and the new in imaging. The chipping paint and the "for lease" sign says it all. As Ansel Adams would say, nice visualization!

I definitely agree with Shuva on the B&W issue. The digital camera makers have pretty much ignored the B&W space for the time being. Most B&W digital work is with software after the image is captured. I'd bet there will be new effforts with B&W in the future. Higher pixel ratings can provide a better white to black ratio spectrum. Slide film is also unique since there really is no processing effect to alter the colors. My camera, for example, has a setting that is supposed to enhance the colors like Velvia (Fuji's very popular professional grade slide film.) Velvia earned its reputation by making colors explode.
