The really big Sigma

Posted by Jason Kravitz (Brussels, Belgium) on 6 March 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture.

In honor of silly Tuesday - what weighs 35lbs, costs $25,999 and looks like it could take down a helicopter? Why its the Sigma 200-500/2.8 lens.

This demo model for the Focus on Imaging show was pointed at some text at the top of a booth - not a very exciting subject - would be nice to get this out near some birds or other suitable subject and see it in action. Just need to hire a dedicated porter or donkey to lug it around.

It is an interesting price point, psychologically - is seeing $25,999 make the average consumer think that is bargain vs. $26,000?

I'm heading back home today after 2 great days in the UK for the Focus on Imaging show. Please check out the full report --
