Photokina 2008

Posted by Jason Kravitz (Brussels, Belgium) on 25 September 2008 in People & Portrait.

I went to the Photokina imaging show in Cologne Germany on Tuesday. I could have spent another day or two browsing around at all the new toys and technology. A few items worth mentioning...

1) Canon 5D Mk II with a Canon 85mm/1.2L lens
HD video through Canon L lenses - wow!

2) Drobo redundant disk array.
I'm always on the lookout for better storage alternatives. I have a bunch of USB and firewire drives and find myself backing up my backup disks. This stylish lightweight little box has space for four drives and your data is redundant across all disks (so any single drive failure has no effect). Anyone using this product?

3) Adobe CS4 - just when I drop lots of money on Adobe upgrades, they release new products and the cycle begins again. I didn't really take the time to see the new features and from the articles I read, CS3 is still most likely more than enough for my needs. I find myself spending more time in Lightroom anyway.

This young lady was a little tired at the end of a long day but was still gracing the paparazzi (myself included) at the studio setup in the Hasselblad booth.
