what is this stuff called? I was thinking lichen or mold or fungus but there is probably a proper name I'm missing...

I believe it's a type of shelf fungus or bracket fungus. But don't quote me. Nice shot.

It is a kind of tree hugging fungus. It is superb in color and texture.

i think it is the "trametes multicolor", in the netherlands known as a kind of "elfenbankje", in english fairy seat. great close up shot. nice warm atmosphere here.
